Accessing the Ansoft Electromagnetic Tool

To run maxwell, you must add its home directory to your path by executing the following command line under the shell (sh, ksh, or bash.)

. /usr/local/lib/profile.maxwell You may wish to add that line to the bottom of your .profile if you will be using the software frequently.

Before you can run the maxwell program, you must execute

maxcfg which modifies some of your startup files to change paths and add x-windows resources. You only need to run this program once!

After running maxcfg, you should log out and then log back in to make sure all the settings have been enabled.

Now, you can run the software by simply typing

maxwell Note, this is an OpenWindows program, so you must be OpenWindows or be running X-Windows window manager software. Remember to export the DISPLAY if necessary.
